Youssouf Falikou Fofana (born onJuly 26, 1966in Abidjan ) is a footballer international Ivorian who played as a left winger. Considered one of the best Ivorian players of all time, he has played in Monaco , Bordeaux and Cannes . Nicknamed the black diamond , he was the great craftsman of the first qualification of AS Monaco in the 8th finals of the European Cup of champion clubs, during the 1988/1989 season, notably by scoring three of the six goals of his team in the return match against FC Bruges after the defeat in the first leg 0-1. He won the championship in 1988 and the cup in 1991 , and reached the final of the Cup Cup in 1992 , a final lost to Werder Bremen . In December 1986 he participated in the great Jubilee Saar Boubacar in Dakar. Fofana has been sporting director of ASEC Mimosas since 2001 where he has been trying to continue the action initiated for many years by Jean-Marc Guillou .
