1930 FIFA World Cup trophy, commemorating the first-ever soccer tournament, which took place in Uruguay from 13-30 July 1930. Uruguay defeated Argentina 4-2 in front of a crowd of 93,000 people, and became the first nation to win the World Cup. FIFA, football's international governing body, selected Uruguay as host nation for their first tournament since Uruguay's soccer team won the 1924 & 1928 Summer Olympics. All matches were played in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo.
Raul Jude (1891-1971) was an Uruguayan lawyer and political figure. He was a two time president of the Uruguayan Football Association (1927-1930 & 1934-37)
