The Copa Libertadores 1992 was the thirty-third edition of the most important club tournament in South America , organized by the South American Football Confederation , in which teams from ten South American countries participated: Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Chile , Colombia , Ecuador , Paraguay , Peru , Uruguay and Venezuela .
São Paulo of Brazil became champion for the first time in its history, a title that allowed him to play the 1992 Intercontinental Cup against Barcelona of Spain and the 1993 Recopa Sudamericana against Cruzeiro . They also qualified for the round of 16 of the 1993 Copa Libertadores , and the new Nicolás Leoz 1993 Gold Cup .
