About this logbook
A single-hotel guide with a booking desk attached. We write about one building in one city, and we try to know it from every published angle.
Why one hotel
Guides that cover a hundred hotels end up saying the same few things about each. Writing about a single hotel lets us go room by room, venue by venue, and connect the building to what most guests come to Cairns for: the reef, the rainforest and the tableland. It also makes our request desk useful — we know the twelve room categories well enough to ask the hotel the right questions on your behalf.
How a page is made
- We read the hotel's own pages first, then Accor's booking page, then transport operators, councils and regulators.
- Every fact goes into a source file with the address we read it at and the date.
- Where sources disagree, we say so on the page and name both.
- What we cannot find, we mark as not published rather than fill in.
- Each page ends with its sources; the masthead shows the date of the last full check.
What we will not print
Invented guest reviews or quotes, star ratings of our own, room prices that may already be stale, or anything that reads as an invitation to gamble. Gambling-related promotions published by the venue are deliberately left out.
The illustrations
Pictures on this site are illustrations made for it in a printmaking style, not photographs of the hotel. They show the kind of place and light the text describes. For photographs of the actual rooms, see the hotel's own website.
Who publishes it
An independent publisher with no ownership or management link to The Reef Hotel Casino, Reef Corporate Services Limited, the Reef Casino Trust or Accor. The domain futbolasta.com has been held through Namecheap, Inc. since 30 December 2023; the site is hosted on a DigitalOcean server in Sydney, Australia. How we are paid is on how this site earns.
Corrections
If a fact here is wrong or out of date, write to [email protected]. We correct the page, change its date and, where the change matters, note it in the logbook.
