Questions travellers ask before they book

Short answers, each drawn from the pages listed at the bottom. Tap a question to open it.

The hotel's own FAQ covers dining, casino services and family travel in more detail; where it answers a question we have used its words. For directions: open the hotel in Google Maps.

Is this the hotel's official website?

No. This is an independent guide with its own room request desk. The hotel's website is reefcasino.com.au, and rooms are also sold on Accor's booking page.

Is The Reef Hotel Casino the same as the Pullman Reef Hotel Casino?

Yes — same building at 35-41 Wharf Street. It traded as a Pullman from around the end of 2008; the hotel now calls itself The Reef Hotel Casino, and Accor lists it in its Handwritten Collection. See the name on the door.

How far is the hotel from Cairns Airport?

Cairns Airport (CNS) is about 7 km north of the city centre, and Accor describes the hotel as about 10 minutes away by road. Taxis, ride-share and private shuttles all serve the airport. Routes: directions in Google Maps; more on getting here.

Is there a bus from the airport?

A 50-cent Route 100 airport bus to the city, via Cairns City bus station and the Lagoon, was announced in July 2026 to start at the end of the year. On 29 October 2026 we could not confirm it was running, so check before you rely on it.

How far are the reef boats?

Accor puts the Reef Fleet Terminal on Spence Street about 100 metres from the hotel. Operators check passengers in at desks inside the terminal; times vary by boat. See reef days.

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in from 2:00 pm and check-out by 11:00 am, according to Accor.

Do all rooms have a spa bath and a balcony?

The hotel says each of its 128 rooms has a spa bath and a private garden balcony. Junior suites have a double spa; the Presidential Suite an oversized one.

How old do you have to be to enter the casino?

You must be 18 or over. The casino is open daily from 10 am to 4 am, opens at 1 pm on Anzac Day, and closes on Good Friday and Christmas Day. See the casino floor.

Are children welcome at the hotel?

Yes as hotel guests. There is no kids' club. Tamarind and Soy Kitchen have children's menus, Merchant Cafe has highchairs, and Flinders Bar & Grill, Lihou Bar and the Sports Arena are inside the adults-only gaming area.

How much is parking?

On the hotel's rate sheet dated November 2024 — still the linked sheet in October 2026 — in-house guests pay $12 a night to self-park or $20 a night for valet. See parking.

Is there a spa or day spa?

We found none on the hotel's or Accor's pages. The hotel lists a rooftop pool, a sauna and a gymnasium, and every room has its own spa bath.

Are pets allowed?

No. Accor's listing says pets are not allowed, and the property is non-smoking throughout.

When is stinger season?

Douglas Shire Council says it generally runs from November to May and varies by year. Swim at patrolled beaches between the red and yellow flags and wear a stinger suit. More on seasons.

Does sending a request book the room?

No. A request asks our desk to check availability and the rate. We reply by email; nothing is booked or charged until you accept, and we never ask for card details on this site.

How does this site make money?

From a booking commission when a request becomes a confirmed stay, paid by the hotel or by the booking partner that completes the reservation. See how this site earns.

Ask our desk for a room at The Reef Hotel Casino

Give us your dates and the room you have in mind. The booking desk of this site — not the hotel — reads each request, checks availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations team or with a booking partner, and answers by email. No card details are asked for here, and a request is not yet a booking.

How this desk is paid: when a request sent from this site turns into a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner that completes the reservation pays us a commission. Asking costs you nothing extra. How this site earns.

Thank you — your request is with our desk. We check availability and the rate with the hotel's reservations team or our booking partner and reply by email, usually within one business day. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged until you say yes.

Queensland casino entry is 18+, and the hotel's gaming floor admits adults only.
