What guests say: a dated snapshot, not a score of ours
We only print a rating we have seen ourselves, with the platform, the number of reviews and the date. On the day of this snapshot, that meant one platform.

Accor's guest rating
Accor's booking page for The Reef Hotel Casino Cairns showed a guest rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 2,916 reviews when we read it on 29 October 2026. A week earlier, on 23 October, the same page showed 4.6 from 2,922 reviews — platforms prune and re-count reviews, so small movements in either direction are normal. These are reviews from guests who booked through Accor; they are not a Google or Tripadvisor score and should not be read as one.
The themes
Accor's own summary of its reviews, on the same page, picks out three things guests praise and one they criticise:
The position on the waterfront, close to the reef terminal and the Esplanade, is the most consistent compliment — the same reason this logbook exists.
Breakfast comes up as a strength. The hotel's morning venue is Merchant Cafe, open from 6:30 am daily.
Beds and bedding are singled out positively — worth knowing in a hotel where several room categories are otherwise very alike.
Some rooms and bathrooms are described as dated. The last major refit we found reported was completed around the hotel's Pullman launch in 2008–2009.
What we could not check
Google Maps shows two separate listings for the complex — one for the casino and one for the hotel under its Handwritten Collection name — and both carry star averages. Our screenshot of the listing did not show the number of reviews behind those averages, so we do not print them. We did not read Tripadvisor or Booking.com scores for this snapshot. When we add a platform, it will appear here with its own count and date.
How to use ratings
An average across thousands of stays tells you the hotel rarely shocks anyone; it tells you little about the room you will get. The criticism about older rooms is the useful signal. If a fresh-looking room matters to you, say so in your request: our desk can ask which categories or floors were refreshed most recently, and tell you plainly if the hotel does not say.
No invented guest names, no quotes we did not read, no star rating of our own. If a number on this page is out of date, the date beside it says so.
