An independent guide to The Reef Hotel Casino — rooms, reef days and rainforest days, checked against what the hotel and public bodies publish.

The rooms, category by category

Twelve categories share one building and two features — a spa bath and a balcony. What separates them is the outlook, the floor area and the bathroom set-up.

The whole list on one page

Names follow the hotel's own room pages; floor areas come from Accor's booking page, which publishes them in square metres. The hotel does not say how many rooms there are of each type, so a category can sell out quickly without that showing anywhere.

Choosing by outlook

City rooms face the streets of central Cairns. Park and pool rooms are the two Deluxe King variants and differ only in what is beyond the balcony. Trinity Inlet — the hotel also calls these water views — is the tidal inlet on the city's waterfront, with the ranges beyond; the Premium Deluxe rooms and the Premium Junior King Suite face it. The two top suites look over both city and water.

If you came to Cairns for the reef, a water view is the one upgrade that changes how the room feels morning and evening. If you will be out from early boat to late dinner, a city room gives you the same bath, balcony and floor area.

Choosing by bed

Twin travellers have three routes: the Superior Twin with two king singles, the Premium Deluxe Twin with two single beds on the water side, and the Junior Twin Suite with two double beds — the only standard option for a family of four that wants proper beds for everyone. The Presidential Suite takes a maximum of three guests, the third on a rollaway.

Bathrooms

Every room has at least a single spa bath. Superior rooms screen it with plantation shutters; Deluxe rooms add a two-way bathroom with a double sink and a separate shower and toilet; Premium Deluxe rooms pair the spa with a walk-in shower. Junior suites move up to a double spa, the Exclusive Suite lists a double plunge bath, and the Presidential Suite an oversized spa.

What every room shares

A private garden balcony, air conditioning, Wi-Fi in the building, room service listed by the hotel and by Accor, and a non-smoking rule across the whole property. The extras the hotel names for Premium Deluxe rooms — a Nespresso machine, daily newspaper, bathrobes and slippers, a USB charger and free Wi-Fi — are not promised for the other categories, so ask if they matter.

Interconnecting rooms

The hotel's FAQ confirms interconnecting rooms exist and asks guests to email reservations for details. Our desk can put the question for you in the same request.

Check-in, check-out and the small print

Accor lists check-in from 2:00 pm and check-out by 11:00 am. Pets are not allowed. Three rooms are fitted for wheelchair users — see accessible rooms. Rates change by date and channel, so we do not print prices; the desk quotes the rate for your dates when it answers your request.

Ask our desk for a room at The Reef Hotel Casino

Give us your dates and the room you have in mind. The booking desk of this site — not the hotel — reads each request, checks availability and the current rate with the hotel's reservations team or with a booking partner, and answers by email. No card details are asked for here, and a request is not yet a booking.

How this desk is paid: when a request sent from this site turns into a confirmed stay, the hotel or the booking partner that completes the reservation pays us a commission. Asking costs you nothing extra. How this site earns.

Thank you — your request is with our desk. We check availability and the rate with the hotel's reservations team or our booking partner and reply by email, usually within one business day. Nothing is booked and nothing is charged until you say yes.
