What's on: live music and dated events
BAR36 in the main foyer hosts live music most nights. Below are the dated shows the hotel had published when we last checked, and how to plan a night around them.
Dated listings, late 2026
Killer Queen for Halloween. A Queen tribute band, two nights including Halloween night. Non-ticketed.
Dancing in the Shadows of Motown. A ten-piece band from Sydney recreating Motown classics. Non-ticketed.
One Voice — the greatest hits of John Farnham. Simon Shapiro with a live band. Non-ticketed.
Christmas Day Luncheon. A buffet with seafood and traditional Christmas dishes, a beverage package, a kids' activity room, a children's buffet and a visit from Santa. Bookings essential on 07 4030 8888 or [email protected].
The November listings appeared on the hotel's What's On pages in October 2026 without the year printed beside the dates; they sit among the hotel's 2026 programme. Check the event page before you travel for a show.
How BAR36 works
The hotel describes BAR36 as a live lounge with national and local acts each week, and its gig guide is headed open seven nights from 4 pm. Entertainment is free with no tickets or bookings, but seating is limited — arrive early for a named act. Minors may come with a responsible adult; under house policy they can stay until 9 pm. Most named shows above start at 9 pm, so children would have to leave before they begin.
Planning a show night
A show night at the hotel is easy to stack: an early dinner at Soy Kitchen next door to BAR36 or at Tamarind from 5:30 pm, then the show. If you are on a reef boat the next morning, the Sunday 5:30 pm Farnham show is the one that fits — the others start at 9 pm. Mention the show in your room request and we will note it for the desk.
What we leave out
The hotel's What's On page also lists gaming promotions and member offers. This logbook does not carry them: our pages cover shows, food and stays, not gambling. Sports screenings in the Casino Sports Arena are inside the adults-only gaming area.
